MYSQL USER CONFERENCE 2006, SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- JasperSoft Corporation, the leader in open source business intelligence, today announced the general availability of JasperServer, a new open source business intelligence (BI) server that provides a robust and economical way for enterprise developers and ISVs to easily create BI reports. The server builds on JasperSoft's experience with the world's most widely used open source BI products that have been downloaded more than one million times and deployed in more than 10,000 businesses around the world.
JasperSoft's new flagship server product is written in pure Java with full support for PHP, Perl, Python and other scripting languages. With the new ability to work as a stand-alone server or web services reporting engine, JasperServer dramatically reduces the time required to build and deploy server applications that need reports, giving operational decision-makers access to data previously accessible only to management.
The new product is built for the large communities of Java and LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python) developers looking for an easy way to deliver mission-critical information on a real-time or scheduled basis within their familiar JasperReports built reports.
"There are growing signs in the BI market of open source efforts, especially for basic reporting," said Dan Vesset, research director, analytics and data warehousing, for IDC. "Operational reporting functionality is moving toward commoditization, a trend that should help open source products like JasperServer get into more organizations."
"JasperServer is the open source response to growing demand for a BI solution that is simple to use, easy-to-implement and robust," said Paul Doscher, CEO of JasperSoft. "Creating operational reports to analyze your business should be easy and automated. With our straightforward approach, JasperSoft is empowering companies of all sizes to realize the potential of BI, providing everyone within organizations with improved analysis and decision-making capabilities."
JasperServer can generate reports in a wide range of native formats, including HTML, PDF, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. JasperServer seamlessly integrates into existing IT infrastructure and communicates with other third-party applications using HTTP, SOAP, Web Services, and Java APIs. Corporate data can be pulled from existing databases with JDBC, POJO, and XML.
Additional JasperServer capabilities include: * Support for interactive reports; * Report storage, administration and security control; * Usable by non-technical end-users; * Reports can be created in real-time; and * Embeddable in Java and non-Java applications.
"Businesses seeking an open source BI server that can be easily integrated with MySQL now have an excellent option from JasperSoft, a MySQL valued partner," said Zack Urlocker, executive vice president at MySQL. "Open source applications are meeting with huge success in the enterprise and open source innovations like JasperServer are helping to drive market expansion."
JasperServer is the foundation for JasperIntelligence, an integrated suite of BI products from JasperSoft. More information on JasperIntelligence is available in a separate news release announced today (see release titled, "JasperSoft Announces New End-to-End Open Source Business Intelligence Architecture).
Availability and Pricing
JasperServer is freely available under the GPL open source license. A commercial software license is also available. Information on downloading the product, obtaining a commercial license, pricing and support options is available at http://www.jaspersoft.com/.
With more than 10,000 deployments, greater than one million downloads, and more than 3,000 commercial customers benefiting from JasperSoft's technology and services, JasperSoft is the most popular open source BI company on the market today.
